JUSTICE FOR THE ORANG ASLI : A MEDICO-LEGAL POINT
On Monday 24 July 2023, there was recorded in the High Court in Kota Bahru a consent judgment in legal proceedings involving a number of Orang Asli plaintiffs; the Government of Malaysia as a defendant; and a company which provided security services to a Government boarding school as a third party. Further details are given in The Star, Malaysiakini, and Free Malaysia Today of 24 July 2023 and other sources. By that judgment, the plaintiffs are to receive compensation from the Government and the company.
The young children concerned and their families had suffered grave injuries, including serious psychiatric conditions.
